Unlocking Happiness in our Modern World.
Unlocking Happiness in our Modern World.
Have you met someone who can't stop complaining about modern world? I've met several. And that includes young ones from their late 20's and can't stop complaining. Few common complains I hear are,
Technology - Its either over used or underused
Convenience - Its either there in plenty or not enough
Time - There is a consensus here. Everyone feels, everyone else is wasting their time ;)
Living in a modern world where technology changes faster than humankind can learn and adapt is challenging enough. Finding ways to be unhappy about it can be a harder challenge.
People who live an illusion that life was simpler earlier discount the fact that it was relevant to the expectations at that point of time with available resources then.
With today's issue I like to share gems from our modern world that are so underrated that we forget our ancestors could've killed for these ;)
Clean Water - Access to clean water for drinking, bathing, and cooking. And luxury to have it on a tap.
Basic Necessities - Most of the humanity is now living at the first level of Maslow's triangle.
Medicines - Luxury of getting sick and relying on the curing power of modern medicine.
Nature - We build parks to take a walk, run. We hike, trek for leisure. We are more appreciative about it, something our ancestors would've taken for granted.
Education - Oh what fun is to know about the world around us! Learning about things, people, cultures, and finding doors to more opportunities
If you look lot has changed, if you look closely lot has improved. #GrowthMindset
Life lessons that you can’t afford to ignore
Leadership and Decision-Making Mastery
I've been coaching Startup Founders, CEOs, and senior leaders from F500 companies for two years now. It has been unique experience of learning and supporting, for both clients as well as for me.
Leaders of every stripe make one thing more than any other is decisions. And one common characteristics of success that I've observed all successful leaders share is decision making.
Profession or not, we all are leaders of our own life. We all make decisions all the time that either creates outcome of our desire or not. What I've learned in my own journey and learning journey of others about decision making is all that you will need to master this skill.
These techniques are the only things you need to learn and master decision making,
1. Clarity in goals
Well articulated goals on near and long term acts as guiding light for your every day actions. Set, write clear goals. Check periodically for relevance with chancing time, situation.
2. Gather Information
Not just what's missing. Different perspectives, similar data in different timelines, geography, different situations.
3. Talk to people
Not only from people relevant to the goal, or a team. Take outside-in view from people who are distant from your work. Talk to people who you look up to. Ask, how they would've handled the similar situation?
4. Make a choice
There is NO guarantee of outcome. No amount of data will make you feel 100% confident about any choice you make. So, be comfortable in making a decision with available information. Adjust your decisions when facts change, situations change.
5. Extreme Ownership
Own your decisions with all possible outcomes. Learn from unfavorable outcomes and adapt. All successful leaders I've worked with have this as an outstanding trait. From their gut they own what they decide. Even failures.
Lead with clarity and conviction. #Leadership and #Decision MakingMastery lifehack.
