Building High Performance Cultures
Thriving companies have thriving cultures. And cultures thrive when everyone contributes.
When you ask individuals on a team what are their strengths and passions, you are optimizing for individual performance. To find and build, high performing teams, ask about an everyday strength or passion individuals could share with the group. Something they believe will make a meaningful difference to the group as a whole.
Now this is optimizing for group performance, company performance.
I love to conduct design thinking activity to find this strengths & passion wall when I am coaching groups. At the end of the workshop, I ask group to keep that wall somewhere central in their office or as a team page on web.
Seeing us as a part of a group, gives a sense of fulfillment towards singular vision, goal of the company. It also boosts persons confidence and challenge them to do even better.
High performance cultures are those where individuals are aiming for their own peak performance while winning as a team.
